John Brice, SharePoint Consultant

What is your role at Core?

I’m the Apps Consulting Manager for the Professional Services team. I work with our consultants and developers to oversee the technical and strategic delivery for all things SharePoint.

How long have you worked at Core?

Four years this month.

What do you enjoy most about working at Core?

I’m aware that this has been said before, but the people are amazing -very friendly and extremely knowledgeable- so there is always something to have a giggle about or, if you prefer, learn something new!

What is the most challenging aspect of your job?

Working with multiple clients across many industries all with differing requirements and skills can be a challenge, yet very rewarding at the same time.

We take great pride in keeping pace with the ever-changing technology landscape. O365 and SharePoint is constantly evolving; it can be a challenge to keep up to date with the latest changes. It's my job to assess the latest updates and ensure our consultants and developers are kept fully aware of new patterns and practices and that, of course, our customers benefit from those updates where technically possible.

What has been your career highlight while working at Core?

I often travel around the country visiting clients. As any consultant will tell you this can be enjoyable but also a tiring experience. Already this year I have visited Germany, Dublin, Scotland and Wales, to name a few! So, getting out and about, meeting new people and visiting world-renowned customers is certainly a highlight!

More recently I have been involved in working on Core’s 'intranet in a box' offering, Beezy. In the world of technology we get used to new products and applications coming onto the market, but Beezy really grabbed our attention. We all felt that not only is it great out of the box, but the opportunity to extend and customise the product has opened up a whole range of potential benefits for our customers, such as integrating with line of business systems like SalesForce, Dynamics and the O365 stack. Beezy delivers all of this in an engaging and very natural way. Everyone at Core is really excited by the new offering and I look forward to seeing our clients benefit.

Describe working at Core in a sentence…

Core and its employees are constantly pushing the boundaries of technology in creative and inspiring ways to make the world a better place!

What would you be doing if you didn’t work at Core or in IT?

I would be a game-keeper so I could get plenty of fishing in! Or maybe a primary school teacher.

Ok, time for some quick-fire questions!

What did you have for breakfast this morning?

Breakfast is for wimps!

How do you like your steak cooked?

Medium rare.

Describe yourself in 3 words?

Dedicated. Passionate. Small.
